The hazards when using oxygen and the selection of components for oxygen service are discussed and illustrated in this DVD and standard G0088. Reference is made to published materials on the subject. Adiabatic compression of oxygen is presented as an important source of ignition in oxygen systems. The influences of system design, valve type, valve and seat materials, lubricants, system cleanness, and operating procedures to prevent ignition by adiabatic compression are described. Reference is made to published materials on the subject.
